Curriculum: Occupational Therapist 2017/2018



Module Description
Person-Environment-Occupation and Health 1. Knows and is able to use general and professional theories about person, environment and health.
2. Has knowledge about body functions, activities, participation, activity limitations and participation restrictions, health situation and disabilities according to ICF classification.
3. Looks at a person as value, and believes that a person is able to change and adapt.
Professional Reasoning and Behaviour 1. Knows the history of speciality, and current trends both in a local and in a global context.
2. Knows and is able to follow professional ethics.
3. Is able to create therapeutic and professional relations both on a personal and on a community level.
4. Is able to manage his/her professional development and plan the service of occupational therapy.
Occupational Therapy Process 1. Is able to assess the need for occupational therapy, and assess the person´s occupational performance.
2. Knows the theories used in occupational therapy, and is able to implement them in case of various occupational performance and participation restrictions.
3. Is able to set client-centred occupational therapy goals, adapt environments, choose technical assistive devices and therapeutic activities, and to evaluate the results.
4. Has a responsible attitude towards conducting the occupational therapy.
Practical Training 1. Knows how to cooperate with patients/clients and their family and significant others.
2. Knows how to work in a team.
3. Is able to apply the occupational therapy process with people of different age, and with different activity limitations and participation restrictions.
4. Is able to apply occupational therapy theories in practical setting.
5. Is able to document occupational therapy.
6. Applies the principles of reflective practice.
7. Has acquired skills for practical project work.
Research Methodology 1. Can find and use reliable evidence-based scientific sources for the professional research.
2. Can analyse and report information found from different sources.
3. Knows foundations of statistics, can methodically collect data and analyse them properly.
4. Knows ethics in research and can follow this.
5. Can set professional problems, and based on the research, give recommendations for solving them.
