| To form knowledge about theoretical foundations and functions of public health, public health policy principles, and give an overview of the situation and organizational arrangement of public health in Estonia. |

| Study outcome |

1. Understands the nature of public health field, tasks, public health policy principles, and is able to interact health factors having effect on an individual and the community.
2. Knows most common health problems of population in Estonia and activities within the frames of the National Health Development Plan to prevent diseases and promote health.
3. Has an overview of the organizational arrangement of public health in Estonia and creates connections between activities of different institutional sectors and levels. |
