Objective
1. To provide knowledge to student about the general and
specific features of materials;
2. to provide detailed knowledge about ophthalmic spectacle
lenses and the materials of spectacle frames, their qualities
and the possibilities for enhancing them. |

Learning outcomes
Having passed the subject, the student:
1. knows the metal and plastic materials used in spectacle
frame industry, knows their physical and chemical qualities;
2. knows the chemical, physical and optical qualities of
different ophthalmic lens materials, and can recommend and
process them according to client’s needs;
3. knows the specifications of surface covering and
manufacturing of ophthalmic lenses;
4. is aware about the technologies used for manufacturing
spectacle frames and lenses in optics industry. |
