| To provide knowledge on the theoretical bases in the field of public health, its functions, principles of public health policy and to provide an overview of the public health situation and its organizational arrangement in Estonia. |

1. Understands the nature of the field of public health, its tasks, principles of public health policy and is capable to link the determinants affecting the health of an individual and community.
2. Knows the most important health problems of Estonian population and the activities conducted within the frames of health development plan to prevent diseases and promote health.
3. Has an overview of the organizational arrangement of public health in Estonia and is capable to connect the activities of the institutions belonging to different sectors and levels. |
