Learning outcomesThe graduate:
1. has knowledge about the basics of health promotion, the philosophy of public health, planning the intervention in health promotion, and about global population health; 2. has an overview about the basics of research, modern epidemiology and the research methods in health promotion; 3. knows the actual problems of population health, knows how to analyze them, and to evaluate different solutions; 4. knows interdisciplinary connections and possibilities in public health; can analyze and evaluate local problems and community needs, and to select suitable strategies and methods for solving them; 5. shows initiative and responsibility in launching projects, and possesses communicational, management and team work skills required for work; is able to express oneself orally and in written form in Estonian as well as in English languages; to compose public information and is ready to participate in professional discussions; 6. is able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in professional work, is ready to act in health promotion specialist functions and to continually develop oneself in speciality and professionally; is able to critically analyze and evaluate the outcomes of one’s professional activity in solving population health problems by proceeding from ethical principles; 7. orients in contemporary speciality literature and in necessary internet-based information sources, including different databases, and is able to analyze and use them in speciality work; is able to use different information technology possibilities in composing and distributing health information; 8. is ready to actively participate in civil society and is tolerant towards the diversity of different attitudes and value judgements.
