To acquire knowledge and skills of the theoretical foundations of public health and of the connections between the factors affecting the health of a single individual and the community.

1. Describes theoretical foundation of health and health promotion, principles of health policy and organization of health promotion.
2. Understands connections between physical and mental risk factors affecting the health of a single individual and the community.
3. Describes the principles of epidemiology and its usage in planning midwifery care.
4. Gives an overview of preventing and keeping infections under control.
5. Knows and applies the principles of first aid.
