Subject 'Practical Training – Early Postpartum Discharge'

To acquire prepareness to provide independent midwifery care during postpartum period in case of early discharge from hospital.

1. Assesses the woman that has given birth and counsels her on postpartum recovery.
2. Assesses the general condition of a newborn and counsels the family on how to take care of the newborn according to the children´s health check guideline valid in Estonia.
3. Recognizes abnormalities, which occur in the woman given birth and the newborn, incl. in parenting and in case of mood swings, and applies the principles of teamwork.
4. Values ethical attitudes of a midwife when providing midwifery care to the woman given birth, the newborn and the members of the family.
