Aim

Objective
To give students the basic knowledge of the structure of organic, ompounds, their physical and chemical properties and their mutual relationships.

Study outcome

Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the subject, the student:
1. Knows the basic concepts of organic chemistry;
2. Is able to characterize the most important organic compounds (hydrocarbons, oxygen, and nitrogen-containing compounds, aromatic compounds, heterocyclic compounds) and their use in medicine;
3. Knows the principles of synthesis of organic compounds;
4. Is able to explain the properties of chemical compounds and inter-relationships between compounds.
